D20 Modern: A Brave New Hell
February 26th, 2011 . It’s just another day in the grind of everyday life in the United States of America . The
economy is still in the tank, with government bail out after government bail out. World mega-powers are at odds
over terrorist uprisings in the Middle East , and North Korea .

The big news of the day though is whether or not the President will be impeached for some wrong doing. Yet
even this is being down played, as the drive by media is showing “Headline News” because a meteor the size of
Rhode Island is barreling towards Earth. Is this just a ploy to divert attention away from the President, or is it truly
a dilemma? Military and Government officials from all over the world appear on every possible news outlet
saying, “We are tracking the trajectory of the Meteor, and coming up with plans to deal with it if it is on a collision
course with our planet.” This seems to do the trick. For at first the panic is there amongst civilization, but as more
and more information is force fed to the public and the story is buried under other more mundane topics, the
people are made to believe it is becoming a non-threat, and more of a spectacle for those to see, people begin
to move on with there lives. That is until…

May 26th 2011 . The people of the world were told that the combined Militaries of the world, along with the
respective space agencies, had devised a plan. They assured the people of planet Earth that the Meteor was not
on a collision course and that they had the means to help guide it with technologies past Earth’s gravitational
pull.

Most citizens around the world turned it into an event to have a party, while the cultists, religious zealots, and
doom and gloomers prayed as if the world was coming to an end. Where people could, they tried to watch the
event, while NASA and the Military went on with their plan.

You live in New York City , or the surrounding suburbs. You work, go to school, and play in the city.

LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!!!

Date: May 26th, 2011
Time: Approximately 10:30pm
Place: North America > New York City , and surrounding area’s.

All the major networks are broadcasting live from Time Square as what some might describe as New Years Eve
part 2. Thousands gather here, and in places all over the country, and the world for varying reasons to watch the
spectacle that’s to unfold before them.

The heavens are unleashing the biggest event since the coming of mankind in recorded history, or so some
would say. Revelers, party goers and the like are out in full force to catch a glimpse of this historical event. The
world’s scientific community has assured everyone that the planet will be safe. The world’s governments have
taken strides to make sure they are right …. Just in case ….

Not everyone believes big brother. Churches, Temples , Shrines, and even wooded places of pilgrimage are
flocked with people praying to their God’s for their souls to be saved.

Amongst the cityscape of New York city it’s hard to catch a glimpse of the horizon, (unless your on the outskirts of
town, or on the top of one of the many high rises) but streaming live on the big screens in Time Square are
images of the first signs of the Rhode Island Rock some have affectionately started calling the Meteor.  A red
and yellow glow in the sky is all that can be made out...

Character Creation:
     
     All characters will be starting at 2nd level, and we will be using
the (25-point) Planned Generation Method.

Please give some thought as to a background to your character. It
does not need to be extensive. Remember this is modern day
urban setting (with a twist).

Characters will start off with maximum hit points foor their first 2
levels.

TECHNOLOGY: (PL5+) What you see today is what you
have, but don’t let that fool you. The special effects of movies and
the creative minds of authors aren’t just science fiction. Modern
technology, science and the military have done many things
behind closed doors.
